Your WebPress site is made up of many different types of pages. Some pages are completely generated by built-in modules. Some pages are created by you and are blank until you add content. The pages you have the most control over are called Articles.
View your site's list of articles
To see your site's list of articles, click Articles under Content Pages in the administration menu.
You will be taken to Manage Articles
The articles are listed in a simple tree structure - subarticles are indented a bit, and sub-subarticles are indented a bit more. There are 5 generations of articles (1 Parent Article and 4 Sub-Articles). From this screen, you can add a new article, edit or modify an existing article or delete an article.
Articles that are secured will be marked with a security icon. Hovering over one of the locks with your mouse will show you which security group that article belongs to.
Sorting arrows will appear to the right of each article on the list. To move an article up or down in the list, click the appropriate arrow icon. If an article has children, or subarticles, they will move up and with the parent article. If problems occur when sorting articles, click the "Fix the Sort Keys" link at the top of the page.
Articles are the heart of your WebPress site. Articles appear as links down your site's sidemenu. Articles are the blank pages where you can format the content however you would like. Articles can also be used to create a sidemenu link that points to another page on your site or another site entirely. Articles can be organized into up to three levels with articles, subarticles, and sub-subarticles. Articles can also have group access settings so that only users with sufficient privilidges can view certain articles.
To modify the existing articles on your site, click Content Pages in the administration menu. The next page will have a list of choices. Select Articles and the following page will list all the existing articles on your site.
Most of the articles on your site will be Normal articles. Normal articles have a content that you enter with the editor and a summary. The article's title will appear in the site sidemenu (unless other settings are used), and clicking the link to the article will display the article's content. When creating or modifying an article, you choose a type. (Normal is selected by default.) The other types you choose from are Link to URL, Action, and Link to Article.
To delete an article from your site, check the box in the Delete column, highlighted in red, next to the article you wish to delete. You may mark more than one article at a time to be deleted.
You can click "Add a new search filter on" to search your articles for specific keywords. You will be given a list of choices that meet your search criteria.
An article can become orphaned for two different reasons. One way is when its parent article is deleted, all child articles are forced to become orphaned. Orphaned articles do not appear anywhere on your site unless they are reassigned to new parent articles, or if the user selects to do so. Instead of attaching the article to a parent location, the choice None (Hidded/Detached) can be selected. This will cause the article to become orphaned. Many users use this tool if they do not yet have a parent article created or if there is no logical parent article to assign it to.
