Counting Your Site's Hits

 · Traffic By Browser  · Traffic By Date
 · Traffic by Operating System  · Traffic By Referrer
 · Traffic By Screen Resolution  · Traffic By Article
 · Traffic By IP Address  · Who's Online

Your website has a built in hit counter that tracks each visit to your site - each hit.  These are unique visitors to your site.  If someone visits your site and looks at five pages on it, that counts as one hit and not five.  You can view your site's traffic organized by certain criteria:

  • By Article
  • By Browser
  • By Date - Year, Month, Week, and Day
  • By IP Address
  • By Operating System
  • By Referrer
  • By Screen Resolution
  • By Site URL
  • By User Login

You may also see who is currently online by clicking on the Who's Online button.

As you look through these pages, each chart will show a percentage on each line.  This percentage is the percentage of the total hits your website has received since it began.  Before you look at these pages, please note:

  • When search engines are listed on the Browser and OS pages, these are search engine robots finding your site for cataloguing purposes.  These are not human beings coming to your site from search engines.
  • When these pages list Bots, Spider, and Crawlers, this may include any type of robot from search engines from spammers searching your site for e-mail addresses.
  • While these statistics should be deemed reliable, we make no formal guarantee to their accuracy, and WebPress cannot be held responsible for inaccuracies.  The Internet is constantly changing.  New web browsers are created often, new search engine and e-mail spammer robots are created, and new ways of spoofing and tricking web trackers are constantly emerging.  For example, it is very simple for the Opera web browser to identify itself as either Internet Explorer or Netscape by the click of a mouse.
