Add a new Event

 

Now that you have created your Event Category, you can add new Events to your calendar.  These Events are your organization's meetings, deadlines, birthdays, or anything that fits on a calendar.

Add an Event

Click Calendar in the administration menu. Next, click Events.

  • The following page will display a complete list of your events.
  • Click Add a new Event at the top of the page.



  • Enter a Name for your event.  This will display on the Calendar.
  • Choose an Event Category for this Event.  These are the Event Categories that you create.  These assign the appropriate colored icon next to the Event on the Calendar.
  • Choose a Start Date for this event.
  • If this Event has a specific time of day, choose a time for this event:

  • If this Event has a specific time of day, choose a time for this event:

 

  • If the event has a specific Start Time, choose the Hour, Minutes, and AM or PM from the list.  This will be ignored if it is left set to 12:00 A.M.
  • If the event has a specific End Time, choose the Hour, Minutes, and AM or PM from the list.  This will also be ignored if it is left set to 12:00 A.M.

 

Event Repeat



  • Choose a recurrence for this Event. This tells the Calendar how often this event will recur between the Start and End Dates.
  • None - this is default.  This is the choice for a one day event.  The End Date will be ignored.
  • Every n day(s) -  this is the most common type.  For every day, choose "Every 1 day(s)", for every other day, choose "Every 2 day(s)", etc.
  • Every n week(s) on: day - If your event occurs every other week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, choose "Every 2 week(s) on:" and check the boxes for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

 

  • Every n month(s) on: - If your event occurs every month, every other month, etc...

    • The given Day of each Month - Each given month on the same date as the start date, such as the 1st or the 25th.
    • The nth day of each month- This is the choice if your event is on the "The third Monday of each Month"
  • Every n year(s) on: - If your event occurs every year, every other year, etc...

    • The given Day of the given Month - Each given year on the same date as the Start Date, such as a birthday.
    • The nth day of month - Thanksgiving is on "The fourth Thursday of November"

 

If you chose a Recurrence, specify a Repeat Until (End Date) or choose No End Date to have this event repeat indefinitely.

Event Security

  • Choose a Viewable by (Security) for the event - You can require your users to be logged in before they see this event on the Calendar.
  • Use the editor to create a description for this event - The description will be displayed when your user clicks this event on the Calendar.  You may format text, insert images and links, and the description can be as long as you like.
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
